About Jennifer Allen

Are you looking to bloom in your current season of life? Do you feel stuck, confused, or disconnected and can’t figure out how to take the next step? Jennifer would love to support you and nurture your growth!

Jennifer grew up in Wheaton, is a mother to four children, and is a Marine Spouse. As a military spouse and mother, she understands life has many transitions; some unpredictable.  Jennifer is passionate about working with children, teens, young adults, adults, parents, and couples who are working through a variety of things such as anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, postpartum related issues, grief/loss, miscarriage, stressful life transitions, difficulty at school, or relational struggles.

Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge and a variety of experience into her work as a therapist.  She embraces a growth mindset and understands the importance of supportive relationships in all seasons of life. She uses a whole person approach when establishing relationships with her clients. She believes by validating our experiences and understanding our environment, we can seek out our best self.

Jennifer earned her Master of Education degree in School and Community Counseling from DePaul University. Jennifer is skilled and trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and grief. Using these skill sets, she has helped people form healthy attachments, create meaningful relationships, manage anxiety, navigate life transitions, and process trauma.

Previously, as a school counselor, Jennifer worked with children ages 6-14 years old.  She helped her students manage school and home related stressors and anxiety.  In her role as a school counselor she also led several groups for teens focused on dating, friendship, divorce and anger management.  In addition, she partnered with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their parents to help foster and promote social emotional skills and tools in order to thrive!

In addition to individual therapy, Jennifer currently leads a weekly virtual process group for young adult women (ages 18+).  The group meets on Tuesdays from 7:00pm-8:00pm.  This process style groups allow young adult women to connect through mutual struggles, offer support to one another, as well as learn clinical tools to help them survive & thrive- not only the challenges of today, but for their adult life ahead!  New clients are currently being added to the process group- please contact intake for more information. intake@creatingprogress.net

Jennifer's personal faith and spiritual journey also allow her to provide faith-based counseling to clients.  (Note: We are proud to serve ALL faiths at Nikkie Evans PLLC. We respect all beliefs and only offer faith-based counseling upon request.)

In her spare time Jennifer loves playing with her four children, family movie nights, exploring the places the military sends them, and enjoying quiet moments.

"Jennifer has been such a great support for me! She is uplifting and kind but also great at keeping me accountable as I do self reflection, and adjust the way I approach parenting. It's truly made me a better mom. Her positive parenting tips have really allowed me to grow closer to my kids as well as teach them great skills to interact with others.
