About Kayla Volling
Finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming—and taking that first step isn’t always easy. Kayla understands how hard it can be to reach out for support, especially when you’re already feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure where to begin. She is committed to creating a space where clients feel genuinely supported, understood, and free from judgment as they begin their therapy journey.

Kayla works with adolescents and adults who often feel overwhelmed, distracted, avoidant, or frustrated by their own thoughts and patterns. Many of her clients come to therapy feeling like they “know what to do” but struggle to actually follow through—or feel caught in cycles of overthinking, anxiety, or self-doubt. Kayla focuses on providing practical, skill-based support that translates into real-life change, helping clients feel more capable and in control in their day-to-day lives.

She has a strong clinical focus in working with ADHD, particularly around executive functioning challenges such as organization, time management, motivation, emotional regulation, and follow-through. Kayla understands that ADHD is more than just attention—it often impacts self-esteem, relationships, and the ability to manage everyday responsibilities. She works collaboratively with clients to build systems, strategies, and routines that feel realistic, sustainable, and personalized.
Kayla also has specialized experience in treating anxiety disorders, OCD, and phobias—including emetophobia (fear of vomiting). She utilizes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD and anxiety-related disorders, to help clients gradually and safely face feared situations, reduce avoidance behaviors, and build lasting confidence. Kayla takes a thoughtful and structured approach to exposure work, always moving at a pace that feels manageable while still supporting meaningful progress. She also incorporates strategies to address intrusive thoughts, physical anxiety symptoms, and the patterns that keep fear cycles going.

Her therapeutic style is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and ERP. Kayla values creating a balance between validation and forward movement—helping clients feel heard and understood, while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping them stuck. She believes therapy should feel both supportive and productive, with clear direction and tools clients can use outside of sessions.

In addition to her specialty areas, Kayla has experience supporting children, teens, and adults navigating depression, trauma, stress, and interpersonal challenges. Her clinical background includes working in both school-based and outpatient settings, where she provided individual therapy, collaborated with families and school teams, and supported clients through a wide range of emotional and behavioral needs. This experience allows her to take a well-rounded, systems-informed approach when working with clients of all ages.

Kayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Northern Michigan University and her Master of Social Work from Aurora University. She was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and values bringing a down-to-earth, relatable presence into her work with clients.

Kayla believes that therapy can be a powerful space for growth, clarity, and meaningful change. For those who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or held back by anxiety, OCD, ADHD, or challenging relational patterns, she works to help clients build confidence, develop effective coping strategies, and move forward in a way that feels aligned with who they are.

If this resonates with you, Kayla encourages you to reach out. Taking the first step can feel difficult—but it can also be the beginning of real, lasting progress.
Outside of her work, Kayla enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her husband and their dog.
