Grounding Countdown

Learning to pay attention to our surroundings can help us learn to be more present, wherever we are. 5,4,3,2,1 is a grounding technique that can be used when you're feeling anxious or stressed. Practice being present today by writing down:

Five things you can see...

I see the green grass, I see my blue jeans, I see my pink pencil, I see my desk, I see my lamp, etc.

Four things you can touch...

I can touch the warm coffee mug, I can touch the fluffy carpet, I can touch my soft blanket, etc.

Three things you can hear...

I can hear the wind blowing, I can hear the tv playing, I can hear the cars driving by, etc.

Two things you can smell...

I can smell the clean laundry, I can smell my warm tea, I can smell my hand lotion, etc.

One thing you can taste...

I can taste my mint gum, I can taste my lemonade, I can taste my toothpaste, etc.
